Armada is a simulation of the Spanish armada versus the English fleet in 1588.
The two fleets face off.
The game simulates the position of Admiral of each fleet.
Rather than direct control of the fleet, you must issue orders to your ships and read their responses.
You can choose to view the enemy orders while learning how to play the game.
A ship requests the assistance of an additional galleon for the battle.
The battle continues into the night.
The campaign is over.
Much like real life, Lord Howard of the English secures a decisive victory.
After the game has ended, you can view the battlefield by entering text commands.

Introduction story (CGA)
The English fleet is moving out of Plymouth in the morning, with the Spanish at the horizon, initially out of sight. The yellow compass shows wind direction arrow and strength at the bottom.
This battle is computer vs computer, and we'll see both sides information. The Spanish fleet has red striped sails, as opposed to the blue striped English sails.
Lord Howard is the English Admiral, and his fleet has just spotted the Spanish fleet, whose Admiral is Media Sidonia. You can play either as a human or computer player.
The Spanish ships here with oars are called Galeass. There are also smaller ships, like the Spanish Zabra. Identifying ships is done by clicking on them, simulating a telescope.
As the day turns into evening, the colour of water and sky darkens. The battle reports are requested and arrive continously.
The battle goes on through the night. The infantry can be moved from ship to ship, or to shore if needed. Much of the tactics of the time was focused on boarding an opponent.
Next mornings battle in progress; notice the white smoke-puff from the cannon on the ship in the lower left. Yep, that's about as exiting as it gets.
Battle reports from a Spanish captain; the English cannon balls are mostly bouncing off harmlessly.
After a set time, the battle is considered over, and we get the results. This was the two-day budget battle, there is also a five-day version with more ships involved.
English fleet is intact, with 73 casualties; 19 points lost. Spanish fleet lost 1 ship, with 150 casualties; 73 points lost. The battle is considered a draw.
