Another world has emerged in the Sinnoh region, a place where time and space have been completely altered. Explore the Distortion World, where challenges await at every turn! Visit other locations designed especially for the serious Trainer: A Battle Frontier will test your battle skills with its abundance of committed opponents, led by the Frontier Brains. Also check out the Wi-Fi Plaza, where up to 20 players can connect with a wireless broadband internet connection and participate in fun games and activities.

While Dialga and Palkia shared the limelight in Pokémon Diamond Version and Pokémon Pearl Version, the Legendary Pokémon Giratina is at the center of the story in Pokémon Platinum Version. As you track down the elusive Giratina, watch out for Team Galactic—they're back, and with Cyrus leading, they're as dangerous as ever.

Check out the expanded Global Trade Station, now known as the Global Terminal. Various upgrades include the ability to record your battles using the Vs. Recorder. Once the battles have been recorded, post them for the world to see how awesome your team really is!

As of May 20, 2014, certain online functionality offered through Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection will no longer be accessible, including online features of Pokémon Black Version, Pokémon White Version, Pokémon Black Version 2, and Pokémon White Version 2. You will still be able to enjoy the games in offline and local wireless modes.

This functionality affects only Wii and Nintendo DS games—online play for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games such as Pokémon X and Pokémon Y will be unaffected.

Following the vast popularity of Pokémon® Diamond and Pokémon Pearl, Pokémon Platinum is the newest in the core series of Pokémon games. Pokémon Platinum features a new story full of adventure, never-before-seen forms of powerful Pokémon – including the legendary Giratina's Origin Forme – and the Distortion World, a mysterious new world that suddenly appears in the Sinnoh region. Players can also enjoy the new features in the Global Terminal, such as posting battle videos using the new "Vs. Recorder." In addition, Pokémon Platinum features a new Battle Frontier, where the toughest Trainers can test their skills in new ways.

As of May 20, 2014, the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service for Nintendo DSi and Wii systems has been retired. Online features of this game are no longer available after this date but this game still provides an entertaining experience in offline mode.
