The animated sequence at the start shows a chase in which the suspect drives over one of those spiky things police lay across the road. The tires blow and they continue driving on the rims

The game's menu is a side scrolling affair

The Free Patrol mode starts in the garage. There are half a dozen vehicles here but only the police cruiser and an unmarked estate car are available

Once the game starts it doesn't waste any time. The order to apprehend a suspect comes while still in the garage. The arrows point at the suspect, and do not show the route to follow.

A second suspect has been spotted on the street. The red & green bar in the top left is a damage indicator

Things like other cars, pedestrians, lamp posts and buildings will damage the car if/when they are hit

The first real mission is, naturally, a tutorial. Here the player must complete two laps within a set time and without hitting anything
