Description

It has been 300 years since humanity collapsed in the wake of a great war. Nearly all of civilization destroyed, only small groups continue to live on in the wasteland. However, in the wasteland, there are strange towers that have appeared. Seemingly sentient, nobody knows who built them or why, only that anyone who ventures near will know only death. From these towers comes a mysterious substance called diablosis, which corrupts those who touch it, turning them into murderous killing machines. One man, known only as Syd, has made it his mission to destroy these towers and stop the diablosis.

Quantum Theory is a a cover-based third-person shooter similar to the popular Gears of War series. Syd can hide behind and fire from cover, as well as "roadie run" between cover to move closer to enemies. He can carry up to three different weapons at a time, as well as go face-to-face with a powerful melee attack. Syd will also team up with a woman named Filena, with whom he can perform special team attacks, and even throw her at enemies for an especially powerful attack. In addition to the single-player campaign, there are also online team and deathmatch multiplayer modes.

The Japanese Gears of War

The Good
I don't know how I like this game enough to beat it, But I did. The art style is great. An art Nouveau organic life style that was cool. A story, while not groundbreaking, had me engaged from the start, and I also like to duo of Syd and Filena. There were a lot of different weapons that were fun to use as well. The tag team attack when you throw your partner was satisfying to pull off. The shifting organic tower this takes place in is also cool, while very hard to fight in when it does shifts and you're flying on it. Also this is a Gears of Wars clone. Which is a good thing.

The Bad
The gameplay is definitely the weakest part of the game. The aiming is pretty bad, the melee attacks are so hard to pull off you might as well not even try. Unfair platformer sections and checkpoints, and to top it all off incorrect controller inputs when I do some of my actions (maybe my controller is going bad, but I need to test it with other games.)

The Bottom Line
It would be hard to recommend a game with so many issues, but if you find it for super cheap, check it out. I'm glad I did.
