There has been speculation that the character Bob Barbas, the broadcast reporter for the Raptor News Network, is based on the real life Fox News anchor Bill O'Reilly. During the boss battle, Bob is heard saying "we'll do it live!", which is most likely a reference to Bill O'Reilly's profanity laden tirade that was filmed when he worked as an anchor for the Inside Edition entertainment news program.

According to publisher Capcom, DmC: Devil May Cry has sold 2.4 million copies worldwide since its initial release (as of September 30, 2018).
