Cataclysm
- Cataclysm (1983 on Commodore 64, VIC-20)
Description
Cataclysm is an ASCII zombie post-apocalypse Rogue variant.
Character Creation
Creating a new character consists of distributing points between stats, traits, and skills: * Stats
Divided into 4 categories: strength, dexterity, intelligence, and perception.
- Traits
Traits are similar to the perks system in Fallout, consisting of 56 traits, half of which are either positive or negative traits. Selecting a negative trait will provide more points to be spent on other stats, traits, or skills. An example of a positive and negative traits are:
"Robust Genetics* - You have a very strong genetic base. If you mutate, the odds that the mutation will be beneficial are greatly increased. Wool Allergy - You are badly allergic to wool, and can not wear any clothing made of the substance." Skills
Divided into 27 skills consisting of weapon proficiencies to basic survival and social skills. An example of a skill:
"Cooking - Your skill in combining food ingredients to make other, tastier food items. This may also be used in mixing chemicals and other more esoteric tasks."
The game which is still in alpha stage, appears to be discontinued with the latest update files on November 24, 2012. An unofficial continuation by a modder has continued development in his version of the game, Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead.
