Panzer Campaigns V: Bulge '44
Description
Panzer Campaigns: Bulge '44 is a turn-based strategy game and covers the German offensive efforts at the Ardennes between December 1944 and January 1945. It is hex-based (1 hex = 1 km) and includes 24 scenarios of varying scope (between 7 and 162 turns, 1 turn = 2 hours). While the scenarios are mostly historical, there are some hypothetical ones available, too. The player can take over the German or Allied side.
The interface mainly uses the Windows approach (the player uses drop-down menus and icons in order to open pop-up windows which can be freely moved over the screen). In those windows the player can view statistics and change advanced settings for the war effort. The main window is an overhead map and the units are represented with abstract symbols. Besides the usual considerations of unit movement and attack, one of the most important aspects are the logistics of supplies. New in comparison to the earlier installments of the series are various new optional rules, e.g. regarding unit surrender.
