Shadow of Kingdoms

Shadow of Kingdoms is a free-to-play strategy game with RPG elements similar to the Heroes of Might and Magic games and it is set in a fantasy world. In this world all the gods have died after battling dragons. However, now it seems one of the dragons has returned and so the player becomes the chosen champion to fight the dragon.

There are four factions in the game: Fortress (Humans), Forest (Elves), Cemetery (Undead) and Hell (Demons). The player chooses one of the factions when starting out. The gameplay occurs in different screens. There is a castle screen where the structures are built that help collect resources, train units, hire heroes and research magic spells for the heroes. In the same screen armies with individual heroes acting as leaders are formed. Another screen is the adventure screen where it is possible to fight monsters, collect resources and items. Items can be equipment for heroes to wear or items that could upgrade the equipment. There are also treasure maps which trigger treasure hunting missions, during which the hero goes from one obelisk to another to uncover the full map and reveal location of the treasure.

When monsters are attacked then the tactical combat occurs on the combat screen, in this screen heroes are able to use their magic abilities to attack the opposing side. Another game element is attacking and plundering castles of other players. Those missions occur on combat screen and involve breaking down gates and demolishing the keep of the castle to win.
