Für Major Dutch Schaefer und seine Männer sind Befreiungsaktionen reine Routine. Auch dieses Mal - im südamerikanischen Dschungel scheint es kein Problem zu werden – bis ES kam - und das Grauen beginnt.

Alle menschlichen Vorsätze sind vergessen und Schaefer und seine Truppe sind nicht mehr länger die Jäger. Sie sind die Gehetzten - immer und immer wieder angegriffen von einem Feind, der sich dem Dschungel anpaßt und mit einer unmenschlichen Kraft zuschlägt.

Schaefer sieht sich dem Wesen gegenübergestellt, ohne seine Ausrüstung, und muß sich ganz auf seine körperliche Kraft und sein Denkvermögen verlassen. Der Dschungel ist seine einzige Hilfe und mit Intelligenz und Instinkt tritt er seine größte Herausforderung an: Am Leben zu bleiben!
