Windows Patches

2013-10-10

v2.15

Changelog:

New Additions:

  • A new Restore Saves option has been added to the Save menu. These saves are local and will not be pushed to Steam Cloud. That way, if your files are out of sync or overwritten by an old save in the cloud, you can load up a more current save to replace it. Backups are automatically created with the normal save data.
  • Changed all four deep fryer food icons for better clarity.
  • Deleting a save will now be deleted from Steam Cloud as well.
  • A new branch has been released for users with devices using integrated graphics can't launch the game.

Bug Fixes:

  • CookBet app has been fixed for one star restaurants (previously it would have foods that are not available to purchase into the random bet hopper).
  • Burgers during the meat cooking phase now display the proper keys if changed in the Key Binding menu.
  • Breakfast foods now properly award the correct flex buzz during the early morning hours.
  • Flex buzz (Morning Aroma) is now removed correctly at noon during rainy days.
  • Coffee is no longer ordered during Rush Hours (was glitched before).
  • Breakfast Sandwiches now correctly locks ingredients until the proper upgrades are purchased.
  • Audio loops (such as the deep fryer) playing after an event or day has been quit out are now properly stopped.
  • Added a tip in an email that you can practice robberies in the Practice Chores option of the Gallery/Tutorials menu.
  • Trading Cards are now live (does not require this patch, just an FYI)

Known Bugs:

  • (LINUX ONLY) Steam Cloud and Achievements are still not working. I will be working with the people who made the engine I'm using (GM Studio) and will try to have a solution as quickly as possible. I apologize for the trouble and achievements will still be saved and retroactively awarded once they're working.
2013-10-16

v2.16

Changelog:

New Features:

  • Control options added for cooking/serving. You can now bind Cook/Serve to either enter (default) or the space bar. You can find this option in the Key Binding menu.
  • You can now view your achievement progress for Food Pins in the Checklist menu. (Click on the stars on the bottom left of the Management menu, then when you see the Checklist you can toggle the achivement progress on the top right.)
  • You will now get more detailed info when hovering over food icons when Boosters/Detractors icon views are toggled.
  • Dates will now wait three seconds longer to have their text answered before their patience expires. This should slightly help to get your restaurant in order before answering a text.

Bug Fixes:

  • (LINUX) Cloud saves and Achievements for Linux now function correctly. If your current save file is overwritten by a save in the cloud, use the Restore Saves option in the Save menu.
  • Fixed a bug that would sometimes cause a fatal error when re-enabling music during the day through the pause menu.
  • Fixed a problem that would sometimes cause accidental entries into Crazy Dave bets when accepting a CookBet, causing UI errors.
  • Fixed a Pizza order that was a bit confusing as it referred to still-locked ingredients.
  • Added a fix with the Hungry Festivities not completing correctly. If you have completed all the events but still have not progressed to the next star level, load up your game, go into the Hungry Fest main menu, then exit out to the main menu.
  • Fixed a bug with Coffee pouring.
  • A minor bug with the Three Star Foods achievement has been fixed.
  • Minor typos addressed.

Known Issues:

  • (MAC OSX MAVERICKS) The game does not currently run on the private/developer build of Mac OS Mavericks. The people at GM Studio are aware of the problem and looking into fixing it, so I will definitely pass along info as soon as I get it.
  • Keyboard support for menus. This is actually a ton of work to implement and will require major debugging, so as of right now I don't have it in the cards for the next update, but I'll put it on the wishlist.
2013-10-25

v2.17

Changelog:

New Features:

  • (MAC) Mavericks OSX support added. (NOTE: if you are running an older OS such as Snow Leopard, you will need to either upgrade to Mavericks for free or access a new, separate build of CSD. You can read how to do that here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/247020/discussions/0/810938082171118397/ )
  • Platinum Star restaurants will now have a permanent 40% buzz boost.
  • You can no longer serve wine until the cork is popped open, preventing accidental bad orders. In addition the cork pop sound has been changed to greater signify that it's ready to serve.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed a glitch with the Hungry Fest not being checked as complete for Platinum Star restaurants.
  • Pancakes can no longer be served as an empty plate.
  • Crazy Dave would sometimes bug the CookBets option, displaying a message that foods were not correct in the Active Menu.
  • 20k Achievement removed. Now the full set of achievements are actually achievable!
  • Fixed a few typos.
2013-12-18

v2.2

Changelog:

New Features:

  • Steam Leaderboards are now available! These three boards track who has the best combo, the best daily income and the best perfect foods served in a day. Who will be the best chef on Steam?
  • Steam Challenges are available once the CookBet app is unlocked! This is on day 12 or so. You'll be given four foods to put on your daily menu to see who can get the most combos in any given day. These are rotating leaderboards that will be updated in the weeks ahead, so get ranked today! This update features an Easy Foods Challenge, a Hard Foods Challenge, and a Breakfast Fun Times Challenge.
  • One time rewards are given for participating in Steam Challenges, ranging from fast cash to tickets.

Bug Fixes:

  • (PC ONLY) Graphical errors that prevent the game from running for integrated graphics card users has now been resolved. Anyone who's running the Integrated Cards branch should switch over to the default/none branch to get this update.
2013-12-31

  • Fixed some Leaderboard display errors and recording scores.
  • Fixed a menu error when coming back from practicing a food when your Active Menu was set for a Steam Leaderboard Challenge.
  • Adjusted mis-aligned picture in Snap/Thumbs Up minigame.

Known Issues:

  • Some Mac users (MacBook Pro 2012?) unable to run the game at all.
  • Some users experiencing progressive slowdown.
2014-02-06

2014-04-14

Changelog:

New Features:

  • The game will now display a badge for your chosen difficulty level on many game menus, including a New Game+ badge on the main menu.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed various visual bugs with a few Specialty Foods.
  • Fixed a small bug with robberies.
  • Improved menu UI and displays in many instances.
  • Recoded the Practice/Try Out event that would sometimes "gift" the food to the player when trying out a food. The code has been rewritten so that this bug would be totally obliterated.
  • Fixed glitch that would sometimes cause Extra Events to restart, even after you have successfully beaten it.
  • Changed Lettuce to Cabbage in the Soup ingredients because that's what I meant to put and I'm an idiot and I can't believe it took me this long to fix and gahhhhh.

2014-06-16

v2.61

Changelog:

  • This is a small update that allows the game to fully support Xbox One gamepads. Gamepad support can be toggled as usual in the Options menu.
2014-11-17

v3.02

Changelog:

New Features:

  • Battle Kitchen Mode added! This new expansion is unlocked at the onset and is separate from the Campaign Mode. Some of the new modes include...
  • Weekly Challenges (1 player)- Leaderboard time based challenges with a new challenge each week!
  • Strike Challenges (1-4 players)- Take on twelve brand new challenges on your own or Tag Team with 3 others locally! For the first time Specialty Foods are mixed into these challenges, and the gameplay has been tuned to provide the most difficult waves of food yet. Select between Standard Difficulty or Extreme Difficulty for an ever greater challenge!
  • Endurance Mode (1-4 players)- How far can you make it as endless waves of food pour into the kitchen? Not only that, but calls from Chef Risotto has you upgrading and switching out foods on the fly, providing a unique experience that's unlike anything else in the game.
  • 25 Indie Guest Stars- 25 characters from Indie Classics to up and coming great games have stepped into the Battle Kitchen! Unlock them by completing Strike Challenges, participating in a Weekly Challenge or going as far as you can in Endurance mode.
  • Campaign Co-op- play with a friend simultaneously in the main Campaign! One person cooks, and the other expedites the orders. Works with your current save and is a fun way to play the game with others!
  • All new Statistics Menu- Three pages of detailed data that uses your current save, from how many pounds of meat you've served to a breakdown of each food you've made.
  • Enchiladas have been completely retooled to be more user friendly and faster to prepare (no more wait times needed for frying tortillas).
  • You can now select specific recipes to practice on in Practice mode.

New Additions/Improvements (Engine):

  • Improved controller handling when plugging/unplugging a controller during a game. You can also navigate options and gamepad menus using the controller, and no longer need a mouse for first time gamepad setups.
  • A new "Load Game" option allows you to exit your current game to load a new save without having to quit and restart.
  • Utilized Game Maker's new audio engine and replaced all music with ogg files, so that there are now "clean" loops of music tracks.
  • Utilizes Game Maker's new engine improvements that addresses a rare bug that causes memory leaks for some video cards, leading to choppy performance over a short time. Also improves performance across all machines.
  • Implemented new render modes. Originally an option for "High Rendering" allowed the game to render at 1080p once restarted. Now there are three options: Standard Render (displays the game at 720p), High Render (displays the game at 1080p, is the new default option), 2K and 4K renders (upscales the game for resolutions above 1080p). These can be changed on the fly and no longer require a restart. These options significantly improve graphical quality for both windowed mode and for monitors above 1920x1080.
  • Engine improvements should fix an issue for some users that lead to crashing when going to fullscreen.
  • You can now resize the game window in Windowed mode.
  • Improved audio cues for certain actions. Thanks to the Nerd3 Blindfold video that inspired me to make this slight adjustment!

New Additions/Improvements (Graphical):

  • UI overhaul on many menus to better illustrate options and features, including buttons and what can be manipulated.
  • HD assets added for food menu icons, email menu and other elements to improve graphical quality at fullscreen. Many food icons have been completely redone to better illustrate the foods as well.
  • Changed the visual look of the nachos, pizza, and burger bun tops for prep work.
  • Improved the six Food Pins design for achievements and in-game display. Also improved clicknstart/Love Chef achievement icons.

Bug Fixes:

  • The game no longer saves the options when switching to fullscreen mode, preventing infinite crash loops for some users.
  • Finally solved the rare food bug issue that caused foods to be given to the player without purchasing.
  • Fixed the Steam Screenshot bug that caused odd outlines and incorrect alpha values in screenshots for Windows users.
  • The Perfect Combos meter now correctly displays combos over 99 during gameplay.
  • Gamepad input display for Pasta have been corrected (left stick prompts).
  • Smaller other bugs have been addressed.
2014-11-21

v3.03/3.04b

3.03 Changelog:

Improvements:

  • Turning off Rush Hour text flashes in the options now also turns off fireworks screen flashes in Battle Kitchen.
  • Toned down bright flare effects from the fireworks in Battle Kitchen.
  • "New" badges indicate a new weekly challenge has been downloaded, typically scheduled for Monday of each week.
  • The way that scores are being pushed to the Steam Leaderboards have been altered, solving the issue of some beta testers not being able to set new scores.
  • You can now tap or click the top left portion of the screen to continue instead of pressing enter in the CSD title screen. This is to better accommodate touch screen or mouse only users.
  • Leaderboards are now available outside of the game!

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed bug that halted the unlocking of characters even if there were still characters to unlock. For those affected by the bug, play any Endurance or Weekly Challenge and then continue to the main menu to get the character wheel spin.
  • Improved the display of combos over 199 in Endurance mode and Endurance menus as well.
  • Fixed a bug that could occur when loading and downloading a Weekly Challenge that would display recipes improperly.
  • Fixed the Campaign co-op bug that booted the expediter when the restaurant closed even if there were still customers to serve.
  • Fixed small bug that would reset Strike Challenge difficulty after clearing a Strike Challenge.
  • For those experiencing hard crashes upon booting up the game, press and hold Shift while the game boots up to disable avatars, as that will solve the issue. To turn avatars back on, press and hold Control while the game boots up.
  • The no-fun police somehow hacked my computer and fixed a hilarious bug that caused restaurant equipment to walk into your restaurant and order food.

3.04/a/b Changelog:

Bug Fixes:

  • (3.04b) Adds developer option to disable handling of avatars remotely. Apologies for all the updates recently but these last few have been critical bugs or additions that the game needs in order to perform properly. Thanks!
  • (3.04a) Fixes a bug that skips half of the tutorial for new players. Performance improvements for booting up the game have been improved for a few users who had issues playing offline.
  • Avatars no longer reset or show up blank after certain instances, such as quitting an event.
  • A few minor menu navigation bugs with the mouse have been fixed.
2014-12-16

v3.10/3.10a/3.11/3.12

3.10 Changelog:

New Content:

  • eSports Endurance Mode (1-4 players): the new eSports challenge for CSD is finally here! eSports Endurance takes the standard Endurance challenge, changes the four starter foods (which are now Soda, Sushi, Pasta and Ice Cream) and increases the "replacement pool" with hard foods across the board, as well as upping the difficulty at the start at a considerable degree. Good luck!

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed a bug that slowed the first three orders of every Weekly Challenge before adjusting to a fast speed. Orders will now move quickly after the first one.
  • Fixed minor UI elements with Endurance menus.
  • Fixed bug in Endurance where the player was asked to replace a food with the exact same food in the Risotto call.
  • Adjusted leaderboard displays for the removal of avatars. While I hope to bring this back in the future, right now it's causing way too many issues for users so unfortunately they are disabled for now.

3.10a Changelog:

  • Fixed a corrupted graphics package that went out with 3.10. The burger's lettuce image is no longer a series of PlayStation button images.

3.11 Changelog:

  • Fixed an issue that didn't properly reset Risotto calls when retrying an Endurance challenge (both regular and eSports)
  • Fixed bug that would sometimes improperly halt Endurance challenges at the start with a failed "food burned" message.
  • Fixed chef Risotto's calls not coming through properly when the prep stations are full. As a result, some players never got another Risotto call during the initial one for the eSports challenge. Because of this the eSports board has been reset and can only be used with this newest patch. My apologies for the glitch. Do note that your new score for the eSports challenge will go through to the Steam leaderboards, even if you do not beat your old local score.
  • Halved the amount of time the Risotto call is on screen after the player chooses an option.

3.12 Changelog:

  • Fixed an issue that caused burgers and corndogs to sometimes disappear from your menu even if they've been purchased.
  • Burgers that have been upgraded at least once will be returned to your menu, otherwise burgers and corndogs lost to this bug will need to be repurchased one last time. My apologies for that issue.
  • Fixed an email that referred to some old gameplay modes that have since been replaced with the Battle Kitchen.
  • Fixed minor spelling issues.
2015-03-16

New Additions:

  • Mystery Box Mode (1-4 players, Battle Kitchen) For the first time in the game, all 30 foods will be in play in this challenge. The catch: all orders will be in secret mystery boxes until they're selected. How far can you go in this crazy challenge?
  • Weekly Sprint Challenges are now supported! These small bite sized challenges are 3 waves long (24 foods) as opposed to the standard weekly challenges (40 foods). There can be a mix of sprints and standard challenges from now on. Enjoy!
  • Wii U Pro Controller support added for the Mayflash Wii U adaptor for PC or any other third party system that allows for Wii U Pro Controller support.
  • Crazy Dave Bet emails now have text that explains the bet offer has expired if it isn't taken on the day it's recieved.
  • The Enchilada tutorial text has been clarified a bit better.

Bug Fixes:

  • Adjusted system that deploys VIPs and dates. Originally if you had a high buzz restaurant, there was a chance that your VIP or date would not be "fit" into the order system, resulting in a "missed" date or VIP. That system has been tightened considerablly to try and prevent this from happening.
  • Crazy Dave's Bet 17 now properly resets if won, preventing the "bet not taken" error messages and errors related to bets.
  • Fixed a small menu display error in the Battle Kitchen menus when using a controller under certain circumstances.
  • Endurance runs ending due to food burning now properly reset when immediately retrying the event.
  • Updated Vertigo Gaming Inc. logo across the game.
  • Renamed Characters to Local Co-op in the main menu.
  • Fixed some minor errors with button images when two different controllers are used in the Battle Kitchen.
2015-04-27

Changelog:

Bug Fixes:

  • Slightly altered some sounds by fan request for the creamer in coffee and the steak seasoning sounds to provide much better feedback when preparing.
  • The default key for restarting Weekly Challenges has been moved to the function keys to prevent accidental retries (originally it was the Control key).
  • Very minor bug fixes.
  • Changed the deployment structure/backend of the game to better streamline future updates. You won't notice a change but it greatly helps in speeding up the deployment process for patches.
2015-09-02

v3.17

Changelog:

New Additions:

  • You can now select different Fish recipes in practice mode if you have upgraded to three stars or higher.
  • Alternate metrics added in the Statistics menu for Food Volume.
  • In the Practice Chores mode, robberies are now delivered to Prep Station 2 so you can practice them exclusively w/o having to practice all the chores first.
  • Added a CSD 2 teaser email.
  • The Tutorial track has been added in FLAC and MP3 formats for users who have purchased the CSD Soundtrack DLC.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed a bug that would cause the game to display error messages when going to the main menu, as well as glitching Weekly Challenges.
  • Fixed bug that would allow hash browns to contribute to daily income in practice mode.
  • Changed Laci's VIP requests in order to hopefully fix the bug where she wouldn't visit your restaurant, even with the proper foods on the menu.
  • Fixed bug that prevented the last two recipes of Nachos to be practiced in Practice Mode.
  • Fixed small email glitch that displayed the wrong name for a few male dates for Cook4Luv.
2015-10-15

v3.20

Changelog:

New Additions:

  • Steam Controller support has been added! You can now select it from the all new gamepad quick select main menu, or through the options menu.
  • An official preset has been added for the Steam Controller. It will be auto selected when starting up the game with a Steam Controller. You can also select it manually by choosing "Official CSD Preset" in the Configure Controller menu.
  • A guide on how to best use the Steam Controller for CSD has been created. View it in the official Steam Guides section for CSD.
  • DualShock 3 (PS3 controller) button mapping support has been added.
  • An all new gamepad quick-select menu has been added at the start of the game that allows you to quickly choose your controller.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed a few bugs regarding Wii U Pro button mapping.
  • Fixed a few bugs for previous controller mappings for certain situations (mainly multiplayer).
2023-07-27

  • Adjusted UI elements for Steam Deck verification
  • Replaced Wii U Pro controller with Switch Pro controller
  • Added volume adjustments for Music and Sound
  • Built using the latest Game Maker engine for faster performance on older machines

  • New Pins UI images w/updated Achievement art
  • Replaced gunshot sound with CSD 2 version
  • Changed starting options for better initial settings (the options will be reset the first time you start the patched game)

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed crash issues in certain situations when using a gamepad and navigating the menu
  • Fixed issue where Specialty foods were not counted in the Checklist
  • Improved gamepad support in certain areas
  • Fixed tutorial issue with gamepad that allowed you to select a food without highlighting it
