Clumsy driving mechanics but excellent graphics for the time

The Good
The graphics were pretty good for such an early Saturn game. There is very little pop up and the view distance is pretty far off. There were some good tricks utilized to accomplish this by using the steep terrain. The composition of the levels is alright reminding me a bit of the Ridge Racer series.

The Bad
The driving mechanics in this game aren't very good. There isn't a proper brake pedal but more of a drift activation pedal. Drifting is clumsy and I couldn't get the hang of it. Driving into walls causes a massive slow down. None of the camera angles provided are very good and trying to see what's coming up while at speed can be difficult.

The Bottom Line
The beginning of the Touge series from Cave starts here. Personally I'd skip this one in favor of a future installment but it's interesting to see the beginnings of this 3D racing genre.
