Description
Digimon World 2the second game in the Digimon World series brings us to an all-new world in which we must raise digimon to fight off the evil trying to invade. In the previous Digimon World, you played as a young boy who was called to the Digital World in order to save the digimon from a terrible fate and had a partner digimon which needed your care. In this second game, your role is that of a new Guard Tamer who's destined to protect the Digital city, and the Digital world. Now you can fight in all new 3-on-3 battles. There is now a way for you to raise your digimon party to higher levels, and digivolve them to the new 'mega' level, unseen in the previous game (where 'ultimate' level was the limit). The new DNA-Digivolving gives you even further ways to gain new and more powerful digimon.

A lot of grinding, but not necessarily unsatisfactory
The Good
The graphics are cute and the in-battle Digimon are in higher resolution than usual (while their in-dungeon graphical representations are Chibi-like).
The storyline, while at first may seem childish, is actually an attempt at asking some philosophical questions. The Meditation Room, in the game, often contrasts the instinctual wildness (which Digimon, in this case) feel, with that of possibly being in control. The storyline ends up toying with religious concepts for some time, but ultimately ends up quite reliably monolithically (although the ending might be ambiguous).
The Bad
The slowness, this time around at least... the battles take a very long time indeed, along with the dungeon-crawling, but that's a given. Talking to people also takes longer than usual because the main character has to salute them at first. I wasn't personally too keen on the militaristic nature of the guard teams, either...
The Bottom Line
Capturing powerful mega-level Digimon at the end may become addictive...
