Release date? (Pitfall)

1996 isn't the year this was first released; I first acquired a copy of the game sometime around 1987. I was never able to figure out what year it was first released though :) any thoughts on from when it originated?

We were just debating how to document this and the best piece of evidence our contributor could come up with was the datestamp on the files. If we can trust you, that release date can get rolled back a bit 8)

Ah, interesting; missed that thread!

I just checked my copy and the datestamp of the file is 1984.

This is one of a few DOS games I have but never got around to adding as I could never figure out for sure what the release year was! (actually I also have a couple games I'm not even sure how they were released; they appear as if they may at one time been in a compilation of some sort, but I'm missing the main menu file...I don't have the slightest clue as to what to do with that lot.)
