Far Cry 4: Arcade Poker

Far Cry 4: Arcade Poker is a real-time falling block puzzle game based around the Poker card rules. It is a companion app for Far Cry 4. It is a standalone game using the Far Cry 4 theme, but by logging into the Uplay service, money can be transferred to Far Cry 4 once a spot is unlocked on the map, regardless of the platform.

Short levels with a specific goal need to be completed to progress through a map, unlocking bonuses and credits. In the first game for instance, a pair needs to be formed. Cards drop down one by one from a stack near the top of the screen. At the bottom of the screen there are five rectangles where a card can be stored. By swiping it down, the card is saved at the bottom. Tapping the card switches it for a random one, while it continues to move down. When it reaches the bottom of the screen without being swept down, it is stored in one of the slots as well. To achieve a pair in the first level for instance, two cards with the same rank need to be saved. A single session consists of two tries. If the first set of five cards does not meet the requirements it can be tried once more right away. If the second set is not successful either the session needs to be restarted. There is an unlimited amount of tries and if another Poker combination is formed, chips are awarded, even if it is not the original objective. With each level the goal becomes more difficult, for instance achieving three of a kind, a flush, a full house, four of a kind etc. If a certain combination is achieved, the session is restarted with a chance to earn twice to six times the amount of points.

After a few levels a pool of credits is unlocked to use in Far Cry 4. On the map players can also unlock bonuses. One unlocks an alligator in the top right of the screen. It can be used once per game to swipe away a redundant card before it hits the bottom. Another is a rewind function, also used once per game, to switch back to the previous card if you tapped too quickly. Once unlocked the bonuses can be used in every session. Joker cards are also earned, but they can only be used once. They are activated prior to starting a session and a joker card fixes one of the five slots. For instance, if you need to achieve four of a kind and you only reach three of a kind, the joker will fix that. Additional jokers are earned by recruiting friends through Facebook. A joker is always needed to achieve the highest possible combination five of a kind. Certain spots on the map require the player to pay a blind free as a certain amount of chips.

The game supports in-app purchases for a mega booster pack (various bonuses), the alligator, rewind, insight (preview the next three cards) and a counterfeit machine to double the amount of chips. It is also possible to buy a certain amount of chips right away.
