The Good
While the game retains the Style Change and Side Quests from the second game, it does seem Capcom were trying something new with this game. One of the most innovative features is the Navi Customizer which would appeal to Tetris fans. And another good one is the Viruses that side with you. But this is about where the good bits and bytes end.
The Bad
The game does have the quirks and irritations of the past two games, that this franchise really does not catch up with the Classic or Legend series. The backgrounds in the cyber world as well as the sprites all over look a lot more bland and samey than they were before. It seems that the Netnavis completely deviate from their Robot Master counterparts at this point, making them a lot less interesting to fight against. Even the secret areas cannot redeem what the game dishes out.
The Bottom Line
There's virtually no variety wherever you go. With Wily still upset about his Robotics Project being cancelled, this game essentially recycles the plot of the first game with really nothing that makes it feel like a true sequel, just a glorified expansion pack. There is no real difference between the Blue and White version, just different battlechips. Waste of money to buy both unless you "Gotta Catch 'Em All!".
