Nocturnal Emmision (sic) is a surreal platform game where the player controls a fish, falsely accused of assassinating the president. Most levels are in the style a typical platforming game where the player makes his way across platforms while avoiding enemies. Some enemies can be killed with the gun, if the player finds one. There are also some levels with a different style, such as a scrolling shooter.

The game also contains an "Arcade mode", which consists of 3 minigames to play.

Nocturnal Emmision was originally conceived as a demo version of a planned full game. These plans were abandoned soon after release.

This was the first game ever made by David "Mr. Chubigans" Galindo and the first released under the Vertigo Games label (as well as one of the earliest releases in the young community centered around the Game Maker program). As his game developing skills improved, he came to be very embarrassed with this production.

Ribald as the game's title may sound, it was unintentional--the author didn't know what the phrase actually meant at the time.
