I'd have to say even if you know nothing about Star Wars or could care less: buy this game if you like a great action/adventure. The rest is gravy... I went back to complete the first Force Unleashed after beating this one!

In the end Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II is a straightforward linear game. While it really does not bring anything new to the gaming experience…. It is a very good chapter into this franchise that will please many a fan and gamer alike. We can only hope for another chapter, maybe a bit longer than this game that was finished in an evening of play. There has to be more to this adventure, to the story of Starkiller, as to if LucasArts see’s fit to do another one…well we can only wait and see.

To summarise if you liked the first game then you’ll love the second. Whilst the game is extremely short (having me finish it in a single sitting), quite repetitive in places and the mere eight challenges do little to add the much desired replay value, it’s a blast whilst it lasts.

The Force Unleased II is a good game. However, I would be hesitant to call it a good Star Wars game. The original Force Unleashed did a good job building on Star Wars' mythos in a way that was interesting but non-intrusive. It presented a simple story that featured plenty of thematic elements seen in both the original and prequel trilogy. However, the follow-up just doesn't capture the original's spirit, and that is what ultimately holds this title back from being something great. The action may have been amped up, the cameos may be even more surprising, but the clone-focused plotline just doesn't do enough to live up to its predecessor's legacy. Sure, the game is fun. But it could have been meaningful too.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II is up against all new competition in 2010 and although some of the new stuff is cool, it just doesn’t take the necessary steps. Sorry, SW fans.

Reviewing The Force Unleashed 2 breaks my heart. As a rabid Star Wars fan who’s gone so far as to tattoo symbols of the franchise on my body, I wanted to jump into another epic story that better fleshes out Starkiller’s story. It’s disappointing that The Force Unleashed 2 not only fails to tell an interesting yarn, but also somehow manages to make the cool combat mechanics feel relatively pedestrian by failing to have enough variation in combat, or enough outside of combat to break up the pacing. Hardcore Star Wars fans should still check this out, but, as Master Yoda might say, “a good game The Force Unleashed 2 is not.”

The Force Unleashed II has a decent lead character, a world with plenty of possibilities (which don't get used) and great Force powers, but there's more necessary to make for a great game. It's not enough to have the Star Wars label on the box and think it will score and sell well. That you can finish a game in five hours may be acceptable in certain cases, but in a game like this where really nothing happens, this isn't an option. I think the devs should really take their time when making part 3 as otherwise there won't be many questions answered after all. Shame on you, LucasArts

The Force Unleashed II is a big disappointment as far as sequels go, and the game doesn’t really live up to any of the promises that were made in terms of plot or content. We were told that Starkiller’s return would be justified, explained and interesting, but it’s none of those things and the feeling that you are on the run is never present at any point. Instead, The Force Unleashed II is a by-the-numbers offering that is dull when it should be fun, and over all too soon.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 isn't a better game than its predecessor, nor is it a worse one - it simply is. Star Wars fans looking for a true saga experience are encouraged to wait for The Old Republic next year, but if you're just looking to feel like a badass Jedi Knight who kills nameless enemies and asks questions later - you can't go wrong with this uninspired, but fun sequel.

Perhaps the game can best be summed up with its all too quick ending, where players are once again given the choice to choose the path of either the light side or dark side of the force. Whereas this choice carried with it some weight in the first game and led to a great cinematic conclusion, here its inclusion feels somewhat at odds with the story, which although barely fleshed out, makes no mention of Starkiller’s leanings to either the light or dark side and instead seems to be more focussed on whether he’s the real article or a clone. Which by the way, the game fails to answer or even develop beyond the brilliant introduction, which makes the inevitable third game in the Force Unleashed series an interesting prospect. Interesting in the sense that as this game is by no means the series’ Empire Strikes Back, it would have to make up a lot of ground to get people interested in Starkiller again.

My biggest complaint about The Force Unleased II is that the core component could have easily been packaged as a budget priced add-on ala Dragon Age: Origins: Awakening. I can’t imagine any Star Wars fan seriously explaining how this works into the franchise or even how it furthers the original game’s storyline – let alone how either of this game’s endings could possibly work. The tweaks are nice, but there’s nothing new to convince me Starkiller’s story wouldn’t have been better off as a done-in-one.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II has many of the same qualities of its predecessor, but it doesn't really improve on them, and in many ways, it's not as good. That's unfortunate because the core combat is fun... And while the story isn't as affecting as the original's, great voice acting and cinematics help it make an impression nonetheless. Yet with less enjoyable boss battles, less environmental variety, and more enemy repetition, this sequel is a missed opportunity. Perhaps you can't get enough Force Unleashed; in that case, you could always return to the game wearing one of the unlockable costumes or try out some of the unlockable challenge rooms, which are timed combat scenarios of disparate quality. But Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II is too predictable to inspire extended play time. Rather, it may inspire you to return to the superior original.

Once your overall adventure is complete in SWFU2 (after about four hours), you're left to either play the game again in an alternate costume on a higher difficulty or to try out the Challenge mode -- which doesn't add more than another half an hour. There really isn't anything worth going back for; this is a game that looks pretty damn good, plays OK, but ultimately isn't that much fun. If it didn't have the Star Wars license attached to it, people wouldn't give this sub-par sequel a second thought.

The Force Unleashed 2 isn’t a bad game by design, I think. Contrary to my implicit accusation in the introduction to this review, I think that the developers genuinely wanted to explore new gameplay avenues in this sequel. The problem is that they were working on a very shaky foundation, and that really messed things up for them. The story is appalling, the gameplay is crude, the camera- dear Lord, the camera sucks, and no other adjective can do my feelings justice here- but the graphics are still amazing, the soundtrack is still nice to listen to, and on a technical level, this game excels. Unfortunately, like I said earlier in this review, what that leaves us with is a mechanical drone corpse of a game, a zombie that functions perfectly at the surface level, but lacks that spark, that soul, that is needed to truly make the game something special. Stay away from this one. The first one is still a much better game.

What the Hell happened here? The original Force Unleashed left me hanging on, and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this game. I should have waited. LucasArts did a nice job of ruining this Star Wars saga, the same way they ruined the original movies with ridiculous prequels. It was actually a chore to get through this one. If the story itself wasn’t so good and I didn’t have to complete this game for my review, there would have been no way I would have wasted my time with this title. From the lackluster and unresponsive controls, to the awful final battle with Darth Vader, TFUII couldn’t be more of a let down. Put it this way, the DLC is far better than any of the chapters in the game.

Short games aren't immediately terrible, but even the short ones ought to have something to justify their length as much as the long ones. TFU2 definitely continues the story of Starkiller, but still barely does anything with him. His goals are to rescue and reunite with Juno, find out if he's a clone or not, and maybe kill Darth Vader if he's got time. He only really reaches those goals toward the end, with little that builds to that point. Even if it is neat to catch a glimpse of the singed neck-hole of a freshly decapitated Stormtrooper, all the repetitive slashing and Force Pushing in-between these loose bits of story just wind up feeling extra-empty.

Overall, the game has more problems than innovations. The graphics have barely improved since the first installment and there’s no real replay value in the game since the saber upgrades barely matter. The costumes are cool looking, but who wants to play dress up in a Star Wars game? The game has too many problems and inconsistencies to even be considered a good game. If this were downloadable content, then this would be understandable. However, this is packaged and sold as a full priced game, and that just seems unfair to Star Wars fans. The Force was not with this one.

The Force Unleashed 2 is not what players will expect from the Star Wars cannon, it doesn’t fit in well with established lore and feels more like a cash-in than something you really want to play. Don’t get me wrong there is fun to be had in terms of playing with Force powers and the fact that Lightsabers now cut off limbs instead of just leaving burn marks. But ultimately there are better action games out there and StarKiller’s story was told already. If there is to be another game in the series, then we hope LucasArts learn a lesson from what went wrong here.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II looks great and the controls work well, but almost every other part of the game is underwhelming. The game just feels uninspired. It’s a quick sequel, probably pushed out without too much time in development to capitalize on the success of the first game. The mechanics behind the game are solid, but it doesn’t seem like much thought was put into anything else. To top it off, an experienced player can get through the game in five hours, and there isn’t much in terms of replay value. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II is a poorly executed, thoughtless game that is best to be avoided.
