Xi You Ji

Xi You Ji (often called C.U.G. or Journey to the Laugh) is a side-scrolling action platform game based on the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West. The player controls the monkey king Sun Wukong as he makes his way through a variety of themed platform stages with a boss at the end of each.

Sun Wukong has a number of weapons at his disposal. Most importantly, he has his famous extending staff which he can swing in a number of directions and twirl around. He can also throw balloons, which can move around the screen in a variety of patterns that can be changed by picking up certain items. He also has a limited-use special move that will freeze all enemies on the screen for a short time.
