As kids search for the missing blanket, they encounter look-alike objects, such as scarves. Although some objects are randomized, the program does have its life. However, it's fun and definitively charming.
Where's the Blanket, Charlie Brown? is fun, if not terribly exciting. The program employs moderate animation, in keeping with the comic strip characters. Lip synching of voices is marginal, but this bothered older users more than youngsters. Our young testers enjoyed the basic plot and action, and found the various puzzles attractive enough to request replaying the game, even after they had solved the mystery.
The game is easy to install and maneuver around. The characters go over the interface multiple times so kids should get the hang of it quickly. My only complaint with the interface is when doing the puzzles. When you choose the difficulty, you are locked into it. You can't make it easier or harder without restarting that level. There are two installation modes. By doing the minimum installation with a 40X CD-ROM, I noticed the voices were cut off on several occasions. The music and voice acting was very good otherwise. The graphics and animation are just like the cartoon. Nicely done. The game ran stable without any lock ups. Overall it was a pleasant experience playing it. When playing between Charlie and Lucy, the goal is the same, but their motives are different. Your child may learn a thing or two about relationships as well. I recommend this game for any child.
Peanuts: Where's the Blanket Charlie Brown? is a great little game for young players and one that will bring back a lot of fond memories for older players. It can be played in either German or English, and the disk contains a pdf walkthrough file in case of emergency.
Linus has entrusted the care of his blanket to Charlie Brown. But good grief! The blanket has disappeared. Kids 4 and up help the hapless Charlie Brown (or Lucy) search for the lost blanket. Favorite Peanuts characters show up in the simple games, which help kids develop memory and thinking skills.
Whoever was responsible for choosing Tivola to develop and publish a game based on these beloved characters, who have really become part of the fabric of our culture, chose wisely. Tivola seems to do a consistently high-quality job in the edutainment titles they publish, with almost an old-world attention to detail, and this game certainly is no exception. Where's the Blanket Charlie Brown? is a perfect game for kids—it provides a whimsical, entertaining activity but is constructive from an educational standpoint. It's also a fun trifle to pass a bit of time for the adult who is looking for a relaxing and not-too-challenging experience.
Though just your average adventure game, it maintains a non-violent entertainment standard and is one of few games featuring Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang. Aside from the torpid nature of the game and the off-keel sound, the game poses a quality adventure with a model storyline, while providing players the opportunity to start and finish a game with simplistic ease. Basically, it serves up just enough entertainment to please those who aren't expecting macadamia nuts and will settle for unsalted Peanuts.
