Jeremiah Freyholtz (aka Reed) got his start by creating video game fan sites when he was a teenager. One of them, a Lords of Magic site, lead to getting hired by Impressions Software after graduating high school in 1998. There he developed and managed the company's official websites and online communities for Caesar, Pharaoh, Zeus, Lords of Magic, Lords of the Realm and more. He also released his first game, a mini-game for Lords of the Realm III, that was playable on the official site (with the Shockwave plugin).

After Impressions, in 2002, he created GameTab, a game news aggregator. It was acquired by Ziff Davis Media.

In 2004, he joined fellow Impressions alumni at Tilted Mill Entertainment. He worked there in the same web role and later got his start in game design by designing the online component for Caesar IV. Later he lead the design and development of Immortal Cities: Nile Online.

Nile Online caught the attention of the EA2D studio at Electronic Arts, where a small team was exploring web-based games. In 2009, Freyholtz joined EA2D (later renamed BioWare San Francisco), where he worked as a game designer.

After EA, he created Drawception in 2012, and then worked at Red Robot Labs as a senior game designer.

In December 2013, he acquired MobyGames from GameFly and rolled the site back to its previous version. He worked on the site part-time and kept it running as he continued working in the game industry.

In 2014 he joined Tangible Play, a startup in Palo Alto for kid's educational games that incorporated physical (tangible) game pieces with digital games. There he worked as a developer, designer and game director.

In 2020, Antstream acquired the majority share of MobyGames. In 2022, Atari fully acquired MobyGames. Jeremiah continues to run and develop the site.
