Overview edit · view history

SouthPeak Interactive LLC was formed in 1996 as a multimedia entertainment company to develop, publish and market CD-ROM products. SouthPeak had offices in Cary, North Carolina where it employed over 80 employees within its research and development, production and marketing staffs.

SouthPeak Interactive had exclusive use of one of the largest studios on the East Coast for its research and development on audio, video and film formats. This $16-million facility included two 4,500-square-foot sound stages.

SAS Institute, SouthPeak's parent company, sold the name and games in November, 2000, to Phillips Sales, Inc. Terry Phillips, founder of Phillips Sales Inc., became Southpeak's new Chairman. Most employees left for other jobs elsewhere or within the SAS Institute itself.

Now SouthPeak is headquartered in Midlothian, Virginia, and has offices in Grapevine, Texas and London, England.

In May 2008, after completing a transaction with Global Services Partners Acquisition Corp., Global Services changed its name to SouthPeak Interactive Corporation and went public on the New York Stock Exchange. Melanie Mroz is CEO of the company.
