Overview edit · view history

Macrovision Corporation was an American technology company. In the video game industry, they were best known for creating the SafeDisc copy protection system, which they maintained until 2007, when it was handed over to TryMedia. SafeDisc finally lost support in 2009, and in 2015, Microsoft disabled the SafeDisc driver in existing Windows operating systems, while removing it entirely from that year's release of Windows 10.

Macrovision was renamed to Rovi Corporation in 2009, and after acquiring TiVo Inc. in 2016, it was renamed to TiVo Corporation.

The company announced a merge with Xperi Corporation on 19 December 2019, which was completed on 1 June 2020.
