Overview

Avalanche Software is a video game development company that specializes in producing games on the home console platforms. The company was formed in October 1995 by four lead programmers from Sculptured Software. Over the years, Avalanche grew slowly but steadily, and currently employs more than 100 people.

When the company was young, they concentrated on porting games to the console platform. As time has passed, they created a set of proprietary tools to develop games for multiple platforms simultaneously. Avalanche has produced games for every major platform since 1995, including the Super Nintendo, Genesis, Playstation, N64, PC, Dreamcast, PlayStation 2 and Xbox.

On 19th April 2005, Buena Vista Games (now Disney Interactive Studios) announced to have acquired the studio.
