Gathering

Overview

Founded in January 1998, Gathering of Developers(aka GodGames) was a Texas based company founded by Mike Wilson and Harry Miller, created for the industry's need for publishers who understand and respect independent game developers.

Fueled by past publishing experiences and frustrations, several experienced, hit-making development companies bound together to form The Gathering, a relationship-based publisher that treats developers as professional entertainment artists.

Take Two Interactive (TTWO) bought the company in May of 2000. The founders and their Texas operation left the company in August of 2001, after shipping their biggest game ever, Max Payne. TTWO continued to ship titles under the Gathering banner until 2004, when they consolidated labels to Rockstar Games and 2k Games. Several franchises established by the Gathering are still being published by all of TTWO's various divisions today, including the upcoming blockbuster Prey which was the last game signed by Gathering before the founders' departure.
