Japanese title screen
English title screen
The game starts by giving the player $15000 so that they can buy their car. Class A has the most powerful engines, Class B has are better balanced, Class C cars lack power but have better handling
Car selection in Class C - low power but better handling Left/right changes the car while up/down changes the colour
Something a bit different here. The player can change the number plate of their car, every symbol and number can be changed
After the car has been selected and the player's name has been input the in-game menu pops up allowing the player to select their preferred game mode
Game Mode 6 is the System Configuration mode where things like the controller setup can be changed
The opposition are grouped into teams and all have a short biography
Mode 1: Quest mode. The player can select the course they want to race and where on that course they want to start
Mode One: Quest Mode. Here the player starts on the highways of Tokyo and hunts for an opponent
When racing the player is given satnav-like directions. The wall of yellow chevrons blocks off the 'wrong turning', driving down that route ends the current race
When an opponent is encountered there is a 3-2-1 countdown before the race starts. The opponent here is 'Optimum Tricky' of the 'Rolling 6' team
Opponents have a floating arrow above them so that they can be spotted when they are far ahead, or far behind
The end of a Time Attack race and it's a new record!
This screen is shown before each race. From left to right the icons read Start Race, Change Car, Change Car Setup, Change Car Parts - where cars get customised and upgraded, and System which is game
This screen is accessed from the pre-race menu, it is where the car setup is altered prior to each race
This screen is accessed from the pre-race menu. It is where cars are upgraded. There are loads of car parts that can be bought. This shows just one of the screens devoted to wheel design!
