The Best of the Bunch

The Good
Ghostbusters for the Sega Genesis is an action packed, platformer that is fun to play. Of all the video games based on the 1984 film franchise, this one is clearly the best, despite taking place after the first film. You have the ability to play as three of the Ghostbusters through several, side-scrolling levels around the Big Apple. Each team member has their own strengths and weaknesses and you can collect money to buy items and upgrade your weapons.

The Bad
Winston Zeddemore is not in the game and their is simply no reason given for his absence. While it is an early Sega Genesis game, it would have been nice to seen some more parallax and other effects.

The Bottom Line
Ghostbusters for the Sega Genesis is different then the other video games based on the 1984 film. The graphics, music and sound effects are all nice for an early Genesis cartridge. Several nice touches, i.e. the shop, mini bosses and Slimer, help to make it better then a standard platformer. While it takes place after the events of the first film, and is missing a major character, it does a better job of putting the player into the Ghostbuster world then the other Ghostbuster games that were released.
