WinBrick96
Description
WinBrick96 is a Breakout clone. Like in other games of its kind, the player must bounce a ball with a paddle to break all the bricks and advance to the next level. If the ball falls off the bottom of the screen, the player loses a life. Broken bricks sometimes yield bonus pickups such as lengthening the paddle or a bonus ball. In addition, the playfield contains occasional dangers such as "electric bricks" that fire off a paddle-paralyzing thunderbolt when destroyed, or bouncing monsters that destroy the paddle upon colliding with it. The game contains a number of default levelsets with 20 levels each, as well as a built-in level editor.
In addition to single-player mode, the game offers a two-player mode (human vs. human, or human vs. computer) where the players compete to get the highest score for breaking bricks. In the default two-player mode, both players control separate paddles and balls at the opposite edges of the screen. In this mode, when one player loses a life, he cannot continue playing until the other player loses his as well. A hot-seat mode is also available, where the players simply take turns playing on the same level.
