Western version

In the Western version, a female enemy type was replaced with a male one and the green blood of the Japanese version was removed. There are also some changes to the intro (already English in the Japanese version), most notable the removal of the word "assassinate".

References

The intro scene seems to be inspired by the opening scene of the Terminator 1 movie from 1984. A dystopian city image overlayed with a back story text, similar sweeping synth music and a screen filling title which is then pushed back into frame.
