Demo Differences

On the bonus disc, two things are noticeably different from the actual releases:

Sonic Heroes (Demo)

The level designs for both levels are considerably different from their actual version. Team Sonic's level is missing many objects from the final version, while Team Dark's level's difficulty have been toned down immensely. Also, Omega's voice sounds much more similar to Gamma's than his own voice. This may be because Sega did not "robotise" his voice in the time of the beta. Finally, the HUD is more "compact" in the beta version than the final's.

Pokémon Colosseum (Trailer)

The overall design and effects are much more detailed than the final version. It may of also been possible to capture normal Pokémon since the girl who only lets you capture evil Pokémon is nowhere to be found.

Releases

This version of the game was sold at the game's initial launch, primarily to pre-order customers. In the United States, the same 2-disc version exists in limited quantities, however it was not labeled "Special Edition" as the Canadian version was.

Rumours

The bonus disc was originally rumored to contain previous versions of Mario Kart, most notably Mario Kart 64. This was printed in an issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, and was prevalent for a short period of time before the game's launch. These rumors were officially squashed by Nintendo shortly after, confirming that the bonus disc will only contain movies and demos of upcoming games.

There has never been any confirmation if such a re-release was ever planned, similar to the bonus content available on the The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker bonus disc that included Ocarina of Time, and its Master Quest remake.
