Speculum Mortis
Description
Speculum Mortis is a horror-influenced first-person point-and-click adventure. After a long work trip, the protagonist is driving through Middle-English country at night when he notices a hitchhiker. He takes her along and brings her to an old estate. Once inside the yard, the girl suddenly disappears and the gates leading outside are closed. The player has to find a way to leave the estate.
The game is entirely controlled through the mouse. A left click examines the environment, while right clicking interacts. There is a limited inventory where four different items can be stored. Items in the inventory do not need to be combined and it is possible for the player to die. Gameplay largely exists of exploration. There are no NPCs to meet and the environment changes, with new locations opened up, as the player progresses. Except a few hues of gold and red, all the environments are presented in grayscale.
