Crysis: Warhead

Development

Originally, this title was planned as an expansion pack that required the original game to run, and single-player only. The new Crytek Hungary was trained to get familiar with the engine and tools, after a while it became apparent their ideas and prototypes were more suited for a standalone game. This also made the game longer than was originally planned.

Online servers

The game's online servers (which were hosted on GameSpy) were scheduled to shut down on 30 June 2014, like for other Electronic Arts titles in the wake of GameSpy's total closure.
