Limbo of the Lost
Description official descriptions
Limbo of the Lost is an adventure game that puts the player in the role of an advisor to Captain Benjamin Spooner Briggs who has been dropped into Limbo's Keep of the Lost Souls. In that place between mortality and the afterlife, the seal on the Book of Sufferance has been broken and must be restored. Captain Brigg must find the Book and foil the plans of Fate who desires to control all of mankind.
Played in first person with a point-and-click interface, direct the Captain on-screen during his quest. As an advisor, the player does not control Captain Briggs directly but can only guide him in his actions. Captain Briggs can, and sometimes will, disagree with his "advisor" and do something entirely different.
The game is not completely serious and not completely ghoulish in that it contains offbeat humor and a dark atmosphere rolled into one. It plays out in six chapters and contains inventory-based puzzles with a point and click interface. There are over 30 non-player characters to talk with and many objects to find and use. There is background music and sound effects add to the realism.

The Good
The best part about this game is reading about its creation. Go ahead, google it. Many parts of the game are so poorly made that they become funny, for all the wrong reasons.
The Bad
Oh, where to start? The puzzle design is downright horrible. Some of the logic that you need to use to solve these puzzles are worse than the cat hair moustache puzzle of gabriel knight 3. And while the (stolen) background art might look nice on its own, all the characters & objects that you can interact with are poorly pasted onto it. The voice acting is, for the most part, horrible, and the script is about as bad.
The Bottom Line
If it were not for all the stolen art & sound that this game contains, it would most likely have been forgotten a long time ago. This is an adventure game at its worst, there is a great deal of pixel hunting & puzzles that don't make any sense, and the game simply feels unprofessionally made. The most fun anyone will have with this game is to read about all the things going on around it.

Trivia
Development Saga
The game was first in development as a graphical text adventure for the Atari ST in the early 1990s, when it didn't get very far. It came closer to completion for the Amiga in 1995,with AGA graphics after having originally been intended for the Amiga 500 line. A demo version released by CD32 Gamer magazine, however publishers Rasputin cancelled the game due to the declining Amiga market.
Although it contains an original story line, it has been claimed and proven that Limbo of the Lost contains graphics, backgrounds, and other design elements stolen from many other commercial games. That forced publishers and distributors to immediately pull the game.
An extra DVD was shipped in the original package containing the introduction, game development footage, artwork and screenshots.
