An amazing game that went way under the radar. To bad no one could appreciate it's awesomeness (or afford a 3DO).

The Good
Snow Job! Sounds kinda like a porno! Actually, it's an amazing murder/mystery/crime FMV game that no one ever appreciated.

Snow Job was released at the very end of the 3DO's life in 1995. It's about a guy named Jock LaMonte (the main protagonist). His girlfriend, Lara Calabreze, assistant DA of New York city, is number one on the hit list of a notorious drug lord named Snow Man. It's up to Jock to save her and put the mobsters away forever, but he needs your help. That's were the player comes in.

Snow Job is a point and click FMV were you see through the eyes of Jock. You can look around 360 degrees (A thing I've only seen in Blue Heat, which was released on the PC around the same time), pick up objects, talk to people, etc. The game is about 5 hours or so long, but in those 5 hours, you'll definitely be on your toes. The two things you have to worry about are money and time. Money's tight (luckily there's a cheat for more) and time is short.

What made me keep playing though was its interesting story. Sure, it's like a B movie and the only recognizable actress is Tracy Scoggins (Dynasty, Lois & Clark), but I really cared for her (it also helps that she's magicaly-babelicious) and I wanted to see Jock prevail in the end. The game was given a 17 rating and was made to look like another adult 3DO game, but there's no hanky panky to speak off. The only thing that was bad was that there was blood when guys got shot and there was one F bomb (it wasn't even spoken. It was in one of the daily in-game e-mails). I think it could have gotten a 13. You can easily play this one with your sister (if she's into crime dramas). Oh, and the music, while repetitive, if very catchy.

The Bad
Slider puzzles! Why'd it have to be slider puzzles!

There's several puzzles in the game, including a very nasty slider puzzle, that will make you rip your hair out.

Other than that, there's nothing wrong with the game.

The Bottom Line
Sadly though, this game is quite rare. I picked up the last copy on Amazon for about 18 bucks. Now you can only find it on eBay for around 70 bucks. I think this game is rarer than Snatcher for the Sega CD, but no one really cared about Snow Job. It only came out on 3DO, and no one had one (700 dollars? Yeah, and monkeys fly out of my butt!). It's an amazing game that went way under the radar. To bad no one could appreciate its awesomeness. I think if it was released on PC, it would have had more success. If you're ever in a game store and you set eyes on a copy of Snow Job, pick it up. You won't be disappointed (Oh, and you might want to get a 3DO too).
