Evolution SHMUP
Description
The game's intention is as its title suggests -- to randomly present a shoot-'em-up, in which a player-controlled sprite at the bottom of the screen fires up at screen-descending enemies -- and then present further "evolved" permutations on it. While most superficial elements of the game's presentation are varied from play to play, from the shape and appearance of the player and enemies to their movement style and the frequencies of their firepower to the background itself... the fundamental gameplay never varies from the rigid basics of the SHMUP genre. The computer ostensibly remembers under which conditions players spend the most time playing and aims to in future playthroughs generate game situations more like them.
