Description

Coconut Queen is a time management and building simulation game with simplified mechanics suited for the casual market. The player assumes the role of Liz Roarke, an executive for the CoCoCo (Colorado Coconut Corporation), that is sent to a remote tropical island to increase fruit production and transform the place into a tourist resort. The main game screen shows a bird's-eye view of the island, with a list of objectives and the timer displayed at the top. The chapter goals are a series of tasks that must be performed before time runs out to complete the level, like constructing specific buildings, amassing a set amount of cash and other management challenges.

The building plans are available from the menu at the bottom interface. After selecting one of the options, the building has to be dragged and dropped into a suitable spot of the terrain. Places marked with red are already occupied by either vegetation or other buildings, and can't be used to start construction. The selection background becomes green when it is possible to construct over the area.

Each structure needs materials and a number of workers to be completed. The materials can be purchased with the available funds, salvaged from derelict buildings or extracted from the local vegetation. Native workers can be trained for a certain amount of money. Cabanas, cottages and other similar structures house tourists, giving rental revenue every few minutes. They are affected by the surrounding conditions, generating more money when placed near the beach or attractive decorations like umbrellas, and being less lucrative when positioned close to the industrial buildings.

Concession stands sell products directly to the tourist population, increasing the funds with small and random contributions. All the edifices can be sold at any time for quick profit, and in certain levels there are some other buildings for sale. The tourist lodgings can be upgraded to house more guests. Industrial buildings can be refurbished into housing facilities. Sometimes the structures get damaged, and a worker has to be sent to repair them.

In some chapters, the island is afflicted by random disasters, like earthquakes, monsoons, shark infestations and monkey invasions. A series of gems are received after completing the levels, that can be used to purchase upgrades or to open new paths. After finishing all the chapters of one island portion, the area becomes available in the Free Play Mode, where it can be further developed without any constraints.
