Concorde

The Good
First, second and third, it's Concorde, it's beautiful, and it's something I adored when I was younger.
People would stop what they were doing just to watch Concorde fly over.
Boeing models come and go, they're functional, they do the job and, though it pains me to say it, they move people around the globe more efficiently but they're not beautiful.

So I like this for all the wrong reasons, it's an emotional thing. I like it because its my only chance to fly in the real thing but as a game it's a real challenge and 'coz I love this plane I will persevere.

The installation is easy. Once loaded Concorde shows up in the list of aircraft as the Aerospatiale Concorde.

There are several different liveries, both French and English, for the plane.

The Bad
This is not an easy plane to fly. I missed the flight simulator's friendly tutorials. What this product provides instead are .pdf documents

Now all this is a lot to read through when all I wanted to do was to jump into a plane and fly to get a few screen shots. It may be the price for wanting to accurately simulate something in the real world but it does not make the game accessible.
In addition though the documentation details the list of checks to perform before take off there's no easy way to get through them, or if there is I haven't found it. The PC pilot must bring up each panel in turn, push the correct unlabelled buttons in the correct sequence and then move on to the next. Presumably they will have a clipboard with the printed checklist in one hand and a printed copy of the relevant sections of the manual in their lap.

This sequence takes over forty minutes in the real world so I cheated by taking off in a Cessna and then using the flight simulator options to change the aircraft I was flying to Concorde.

Other than the steep learning curve the only other niggle was that when changing the pilot's view to look around the cockpit and out of the windows I got a black screen more often than I got the desired effect.

The Bottom Line
Very accurate, very realistic instrumentation, requires a real investment of time and effort to master but it's not just an aeroplane it's Concorde!
