Description

Squid Yes! Not So Octopus! is a single-screen arena shooter where the player controls a radioactive squid that needs to survive an alien invasion for eight minutes to convince the intruders to go home again. The character can be moved in any direction and needs to shoot aliens while picking up gems. The aim is to get a highscore as close to 9 as possible. Decimals are earned for every alien that is shot, whole points for every minute the invasion is survived. The squid only has a single life and is almost immediately overwhelmed by the aliens that spawn at times intervals. Some of them chase the squid and some of them can also shoot. The squid can only shoot in the direction he's facing, so he constantly needs to be maneuvered away and then back to face the enemies. Options include toggling the bonus display and the warning when new aliens spawn, adding glow effects, three different turn styles, the board type, and a practice mode with invulnerability but no saved score.

The Xbox 360 version is very similar, but with much brighter visuals and backgrounds, more reminiscent of the visual improvements later introduced in SYNSO:CE.
