Jaws Revenge

Jaws Revenge is an action game based on the Jaws franchise of movies. In this game the player gets to control the shark himself as he wreaks havoc in and above the sea. The game consists of 40 levels divided over 4 worlds: Amity Island in New England (USA), Playa del Sol in Barcelona (Spain), Laguna del Partido in Cancun (Mexico), and Blackbeard's Bay (fictional). Each stage consists of a 2D side-scrolling area set in the water. The shark moves forward and attacks automatically. There are a number of actions that can be performed. By touching and holding, Jaws dives down and when released he jumps out of the water. The depth before releasing determines the height of the jump. While in the air or at the surface the shark can be tapped to make him lunge forward. Creatures he can attack include fish, seals, and birds, but also swimmers, boats and planes. Everything is devoured or destroyed automatically when it is close enough. In a number of situations evasive maneuvers are required to dodge barrels or harmful objects in the environment.

Each stage has one or more challenges that have to be completed to move on to the next level. This usually involves attacking a number of specific targets. Some levels also have bosses. Health is refilled by eating creatures. Attacks fill up a frenzy icon in the bottom left corner of the screen. Once full, a powerful frenzy mode can be triggered where the screen turns red, Jaws becomes faster, jumps higher and can attack more easily. Along the way shark tooth coins can be earned. These are spent on upgrades divided over bite, skin, frenzy, lunge, and health—with five upgrade levels for each. Coins can also spent on additional frenzy charges or much more powerful advantages. As a free-to-play title, the player is encouraged to buy additional coins through in-game purchases. Next to coins Jaws can also collect license plates. Level layouts are randomized on a daily basis.
