The Euchmich Legacy
Description
The Euchmich Legacy is a naval-themed action game created for the 2004 72 Hour Game Development Competition with pirates as the theme. Players get to explore an open world from a top-down view inspired by Sid Meier's Pirates! There is a storyline about how the pirate Euchmich the Loathsome used to rule all the seas, spreading fear and destruction, but 30 years after his death the people has vowed there can never be a successor. The protagonist inherits a run-down merchant brig after his father and discovers he is Euchmich's grandchild and the old ship is actually the famous Emilia. The goal becomes to take back control the way grandfather Eumich used to have it.
The player can freely sail the seas, fight with other pirates, and conquer the national capitals surrounding the seas. From the start, the player's ship is slow, sluggish and unresponsive, but with more sailors in the crew, all aspects of sailing are improved. The action is fast-paced and controls combine steering the ship and shooting cannon balls. Gameplay elements to take into account include speed, gold, food, crew, ammo and the hull.
