PlayOnline Viewer

PlayOnline Viewer is an online portal for Square Enix games such as Final Fantasy XI. The Windows version is available through download and, like the console versions, is included with each release of Final Fantasy XI and its compilations.

Tetra Master, the card mini-game from Final Fantasy IX got a stand-alone release as part of PlayOnline. It was included with many Final Fantasy XI releases and cost 1$ per month to play. The services for Tetra Master stopped on December 31, 2010.

Each card represents a character, monster or item from the Final Fantasy franchise. They have arrows that may be on any of the four sides or corners of the card, and a four-digits stat. value (Power, Type, Physical and Magical defenses). The arrows point in directions in which the card can have effect. If it is stronger than the cards it points to, these will be taken-over and turn into the same color as the attacking card (one of the two player's color). Combos can be made by having multiple take-overs happen. The winner is the player who owns the most card once the playing grid is full.
