Plunder!
- Plunder! (1990 on Apple IIgs)
Description
Plunder! is a puzzle game in which the player detonates mines in the water for two purposes. First, to free one's own pirate fleet from the minefield; and second, to sink merchant ships with the shrapnel.
Each round consists of a fleet of pirate ships on the left side of the map, five merchant ships randomly placed around the map, and a large number of mines pointing either up/down, left/right, or four ways. The mines have three sizes. The largest-size mines detonate when clicked, and shrapnel then flies in the directions the mine pointed. If shrapnel hits other mines, their size increases. If a mine is already at the largest size, it explodes and sends even more shrapnel out, often causing chain reactions with even more mines.
If shrapnel hits a merchant ship, it becomes damaged or sinks. Sunken ships drop treasure chests, but the player needs to click on a chest before it is destroyed by shrapnel. Pirate ships are immune to shrapnel, and after eight rounds they eventually gain the ability to fire cannonballs at mines and merchant ships.
The game was originally released on Big Fish Games' social gaming portal Atlantis in 2007, then ported to Big Fish Games' Treasure Quest Facebook app in 2009. iPhone and iPad versions soon followed.
