Revolution Under Siege
Description
Revolution Under Siege is a turn-based strategy game set during the Russian Civil War. There are three main historical campaigns (with the factions Bolsheviks, Southern Whites and Siberian Whites), three shorter historical scenarios (Ice March, The Finnish Civil War and the Polish-Soviet War) as well as a fictional campaign in which Germany tries to invade Russia in 1921. There is no campaign which goes over the full distance as well as no representation of the October Revolution.
This is primarily a game about combat. The most time is spent with organizing units, choosing and developing the right unit leaders for the job, moving them over the map (while taking weather and terrain into account - control over train infrastructure is an important factor) and engaging in automatically calculated combat situations. As with all of the developer's games, the simulation is complex and offers a lot of tactical decisions and set screws to tinker with. Military plays the biggest role, but there are also economical (mostly the logistics of supplying troops) aspects to deal with.
Winning scenarios requires to earn enough victory points by holding strategic cities and destroying enemy troops. The game can also end with a sudden death (holding a certain number of objective cities) or automatic victory (when the nation's morale gets high enough).
