Description
VoRTeX is a turn based strategy game for up to four players, alternatively one player can play against a computer. In terms of game play it has many similarities with Ludo or Pachisi
Each player has four coloured pieces. The object of the game is to move them from the start square to the home square. The first player to get all four pieced home wins the game.
The game is played on a grid, winding around the grid from a corner to the centre in concentric spirals are the lanes along which each player moves. The lanes are parallel and pass through the same number of squares on their route to the centre. The number the players roll the dice determines how many squares they travel along their lane. If a player moves to a square occupied by another player then that player's piece is removed from the game area and must start its journey all over again. To make a token safe, i.e. get it to the HOME square, the player must roll the exact number required.
The computer can play the role of one, two or three opponents and with three levels of difficulty. In the default game the players each have four tokens but the game can be played with one, two three or four tokens. The default dice rolls any number between a one and a six but this too can be changed to either just two or twelve.
The shareware version of the game has a square board layout. The registered version has both larger and a smaller square boards and three sizes of circular board
