LucasArts made a bad game

The Good
Defenders of Dynatron City (JVC & Lucasarts 1992) features a totally original superhero storyline, set in a futuristic Metropolis. It combines side-scrolling action with some adventure game style exploration and puzzle solving.

The Bad
Defenders of Dynatron City (JVC & Lucasarts 1992) seems to have been tested by Mr. No-one. Their is no other way to explain how a giant like LucasArts can be involved in a game with such poor hit detection, jerky character movements, frustratingly vague mission objectives and only average, at best, graphics, music and sound effects. Adding insult to injury, the game has strict time limit and only four, repetitive levels.

The Bottom Line
Defenders of Dynatron City has all the potential to be a great video game. It comes from Lucasfilm (now LucasArts) who has given us some of the best point n' click graphic adventure games as well as an extensive library of action packed Indiana Jones and Star Wars themed titles. Sadly, once you get past the creative characters and story, everything about this game is poorly designed and executed. The NES was capable of much better and so was Lucasfilms.
