Game Over in Machinimation
Description
Game Over in Machinimation is a free promotional game made to promote the gaming themed animated television series Game Over. It is a first-person shooter built on the Quake III: Arena engine that features both single-player and multiplayer modes.
The single-player mode consists of a single mission where the player takes control of Raquel, the main protagonist of the series. She infiltrates a facility on an hostile alien planet where she has to retrieve an ancient artifact known as the Alien Monkey. Like in any other shooter the gameplay involves killing the enemies that guard the facility while avoiding various environmental hazards such as moving pistons and fans as well as pools of goo. There are five different weapons with different characteristics. For example the gat shoots high speed plasma darts while the blaster shoots balls of explosive gasses with a large blast radius. There is also the halanzer which shoots energy disk that can bounce off walls, the grenner which shoots grenades and the hypersonic disruptor which can be used for sniping. Some weapons can have mods that give extra abilities such as the blaster which can be equipped with a jetpack.
The multiplayer mode is a simple free-for-all deathmatch mode similar to Quake or Unreal Tournament. A game goes on until a player reaches a certain amount of frags or the time runs out. There are five different maps and they can be played over Internet or LAN. It is also possible to play against bots. Special features in multiplayer involve an annoying ad robot that can be shot at but gives no points and a rare alien bird which spits goo on players causing them to move slower and see less.
A free version of the Machinima tool Machinimation is included with the game.

Trivia
Relation To Sidrial
This game is actually a somewhat-modified version of Fountainhead's original Machinima project, "Sidrial." Not long after the concept of "machinima" (creating animated films using real-time game engines instead of traditional animation) started to take off, Sidrial was to be the first completely original animated feature to be created from scratch on the Quake III Arena engine. While the feature-length film idea never got off the ground, the assets were compiled into a total conversion mod for Quake III which can still be downloaded from the Internet Archive.
It seems Game Over in Machinimation is built on top of the assets for Sidrial, with some characters replaced and a few extra features added. Even the ridiculously elaborate Sidrial HUD is still present!
