Fast as hell!

The Good
Upon its release Extreme-G was the only 3D, kinda serious, WipeOut alternative for the N64. And omg was it fast! The vehicles were sci-fi motorbikes and the lanes narrow to increase the sensation of speed. Plus you could pick up items on the road like in Mario Kart. Shields, weapons and speed boosters among others. The artstyle was typically 90's coolness. The rise of the playstation brought with it a certain maturity to games which hadn't been popular on the Nintendo's and Sega's before. Tekken, WipeOut, Gran Turismo and Metal Gear to name a few. Extreme-G was one of the few titles (Turok) that brought that feeling to the N64 which was a big thing.

The Bad
Unfortunately Extreme-G was often too fast for it's own good. The nervous controls couldn't match it. As soon as you were about to take a turn you were bound to bump in to the walls. You never felt in control as compared to Diddy's Kong Racing were you could slide perfectly through ever turn.

Additionally it lacked "soul". Compared to other fun racers the bikes were just bikes and the levels just sci-fi standard.

The Bottom Line
Extreme-G was an incredible game when it came out. It's speed sensation and overall coolness were a fresh breeze for the N64. It had it's flaws already then but the excitement of 3D was just too mind-blowing to get hung up on that.

A fast-paced racing game that never tires out.

The Good
I liked the selection of characters, the characters, the menus, bonuses, cheat mode. I liked absolutely everything. I also liked that no matter how much you play it, you will never get tired of it.

The Bad
If you do a combination of things, you can fly over/through buildings and some other things.

The Bottom Line
The best racing game of it's time.
