Original and addictive

The Good
In a weird combination of Lemmings and an arcade platformer, Mimi & The Mites provides original and immersive gameplay. You play Mimi, a girl with a gun, your main problem is Mites - little blue blobs - they serve as both enemies and puzzle elements. Each level consists of only 1 screen, and each has a unique approach. You navigate between platforms, buttons, elevators, teleports, ammo packs, trying to avoid the mites or trying to make them do something you need (some buttons could only be pressed by them, for example) or both at the same time.

You can skip a hard level if you loose too much on it, and a useful Hint appears once in a while.

The animation is absolutely beautiful. Each action of both Mimi and The Mites are animated in great detail. Even jumping off a platform is not your regular 'sprite slides off' stuff.

There are few music tunes (quite enjoyable) and an appropriate range of sound effects.

The best part is of course gameplay itself, in fact, I can't recall any other game with similar mechanics (althugh Mimi draws heavily from it's predecessors).

The Bad
Sometimes it's hard to avoid a Mite, due to controls being a little clunky. That's probably part of the gameplay (you have to time your actions), but it would definitely lead to some defeats you'd probably call 'unfair'.

The Bottom Line
A perfect game if you're into platformer arcades with a puzzle twist, or into puzzlers with an arcade twist !
