Mr. Happy Is Armed and Dangerous!

The Good
"Venture" (1982) was one of the best action-adventure games released for the ColecoVision. Each of three different levels have various rooms that you need to enter, while avoiding the green monsters. Once inside a room you need to quick grab the treasure, kill the various creatures in the room and escape before one of the green monsters enters the room. It all seems amazingly simple, perhaps it was, but it was also incredibly fun to go off searching for treasure, while shooting arrows into strange creatures.

The Bad
The ColecoVision did not have the best controllers for a fast, paced arcade action game. Frankly, none of the old school game systems of the day did. I always thought it was a bit silly that your arrows cannot be used outside a room and cannot hurt, much less kill, the giant green monsters.

The Bottom Line
"Venture" (1982) was one of best action adventure games for the ColecoVision. Plenty of treasure to grab, monsters to kill and giant green monsters to avoid at all cost. I always thought that this game could do with a proper re-release but that does not seem to be in the cards.
