Forsaken is a game that you will play in your mind long after turning your off you PC, with the game's coloured light and music haunting you in your dreams. It's a massive game in every sense of the word, and not owning it would be a grave oversight. Obviously, feel free to steal it or 'tape' it, but do have a look. Descent is dead. Forsaken lives. The year is one.

Forsaken is the most enjoyable shooter game I’ve played since Descent II. The stunning graphics and complex levels make this a must have for fans of first-person shooters. And if you’re a Descent fan waiting impatiently for Descent III to come out, you simply must buy Forsaken -- it’s what we’ve been waiting for. Interplay is going to be hard pressed to release a game that matches, much less tops, this one.

If you're a Descent fan, well, you probably stopped reading about four paragraphs ago and you're already halfway to the store. You won't be disappointed, especially if Acclaim can work out the multiplayer bugs. Acclaim is currently working on a Forsaken level editor that will surely extend the game's life - but the great graphics and difficult yet exciting gameplay are already enough to keep you interested for a fairly long time.

One of the first games I played on the PSX way back in '95 was the conversion of the PC hit Descent. I loved this title but with almost 30 levels to plough through I have still not made it right to the final climax. It was so easy to think of an excuse not to complete this game - the complex design of the mining tunnels meant I was constantly getting lost, or the 360° dog fights scrambled your vision, or maybe a slightly better game always seemed to come along. Whatever the excuse I swear that one day I will return to conquer Descent.... after I have beaten Forsaken first, of course. Time to cut the crap - this is Descent 3. It may have the most jaw-dropping graphics on the Playstation to date, it may offer futuristic bikes instead of the rickety old shuttle but behind all of the glamour the gameplay remains the same. There's nothing wrong with that, only I hope it doesn't take me another three years to grind through all of the new missions.

The gameplay offers a good mixture of action and exploration, although it gets repetitive after awhile and it's a little too easy to get lost in the 3D worlds. But thanks to an excellent (and always fluid) four-player mode, Forsaken won't get old too quickly. A recommended title for every N64 owner who wants a bit more action than piloting monkeys through happy worlds, but everyone should heed this warning: people prone to motion-sickness should close their eyes during gameplay.

I really can't say enough great things about this game, because I'm thoroughly entertained by it, and if you enjoy playing intense, graphically superior 3D action games, then Forsaken is a must buy. Sure, it's a derivative concept (politically correct for clone), but the impressive advantages that this game has over its predecessors makes it worthy of any game player's hard earned money. Run to the store and purchase this as quickly as possible, because I promise you this one's going to fly off the shelves fast.

I really enjoyed this game. The fast paced action coupled with a bunch of different enemies and weapons will keep you playing for hours. The graphics are top notch and watching those explosions never gets old. I think that this game is everything that other games have tried to be but failed. All in all, if you do not suffer motion sickness, you should check this game out. I don't think that it will be for everyone, especially on the Nintendo, but if you are not sure, it is worth the price of a rental for sure.

Between the various multiplayer options and the great single-player mode, Forsaken 64 comes out a real winner. Save for Rare's Goldeneye 007, it easily defeats the other first-person shooters currently available for the N64.

With multiplayer support for up to 16 trigger-happy warriors and an overtly sexist/sexy FORSAKEN babe calendar included in the box, Acclaim’s latest is a sensory joy, even if the gameplay is a bit too tough and the underlying concept none too original.

PlayStationPSM
Forsaken is Acclaim's spiritual remake of Descent for the PlayStation-and man, is it good. The plot is really just fluff: you are a thief raiding the wasteland of a destroyed Earth, looking for gold (which for some reason is just floating around). You will have to fight off rival bikers and a variety of high-power defensive systems to escape from each level. Don't let the plot fool you, though, Forsaken is exceptional in almost every other way.

PlayStationIGN
In the end, Forsaken really should stand out more than it has on the PlayStation, and for some strange reason, it's been a game that's received good but spare comment. The fact that so many PlayStation title come out each week and the game genre -- 3D space corridor shooter -- places it smack amongst millions of other similar titles may have something (oh, just possibly) to do with it.

PlayStationSvenska PlayStation Magasinet

Nintendo 64IGN
If you enjoyed Descent then you're going to love Forsaken -- it's really that simple. Although it might get boring after a while, the game is interesting enough in the single player mode. But plug in a few more controllers and you get one of the most gripping shooters of the year. Rarely is there such a good combination between technology and action-packed gameplay. While the N64 version outperforms the PSX Forsaken in almost every respect, it doesn't have as much personality as the PC original.

For intense action in the one-player mode, or as a multiplayer battle or tag game, Forsaken 64 can stand with the best of them. The best multiplayer game since GoldenEye.

Forsaken is a solid 3D action game for your more-talented-than-average gamer. While the story is a bit irrelevant, the impressive graphics and good single and multiplayer support should help get your money's worth.

-One last thing... The N64 version does not come with the gratuitous calendar of the Forsaken girl :(

We all remember the game Descent...right? Well, for those who were living in a cave during that period of time, here's a little refresher course. The game was similar to the ever-so-popular 3D shooters of the time, only it used fuller, "360 degree" movements in all directions. Well, Forsaken, Acclaim's newest, is extremely similar to descent, involving a bunch of spaceships in zero-gravity battling throughout small corridors. The game does deliver breathtaking graphics as well as enjoyable multiplayer support.

And, once you get tired of dealing with huge swarms of annoying computer-controlled little ships and immensely powerful level bosses, you can get down to the nitty-gritty of the matter. This nitty-gritty is, of course, playing against other people. Anyone who has played online and multiplayer versions of Quake or Goldeneye knows that the real fun lies in deathmatches with your friends and acquaintances. Sure...a large TV screen is recommended for the four-player matches (is that small blip down there shooting at me? BLAM)...but the speed suffers very little on this game, even with the screen split into quarters. So try to get some buddies hooked on this one along with you, and train your skills together while you talk trash and eat junk food for hours at a time. It's heaps more exciting than playing the one-player game, though your choice of battle arenas is woefully limited.

WindowsAdrenaline Vault, The (AVault)
It is hard to say that scoring this game cannot be somewhat influenced by Descent. On the visual side of things the game is excellent and really brings the player into the depths of each level. The multiplayer play is also exciting and challenging, although limited by the current Internet setup. With these two high points aside, the gameplay offers some challenge and excitement but it is scarred by the fact that the difficulty is not tuned right. There is plenty of action and a lot of good points to the game, but not everyone will want to play a pure blow 'em up type game. It almost could have been left at an arcade stage, and the designers could have taken out any plot or story to the game and it would have been the same thing. On a final note, although the game box and advertising appeal to most men, it does not do anything to the game and gives ammunition to those who bash the industry for its improper images.

The PlayStation version of Forsaken is on the bottom of the pile. Both the PC and N64 versions surpass it in almost every category. However, the PlayStation version is still a good game once you get past the control problems, so if you're without a PC or N64, pick up the PlayStation version without fear.

Ultimately, Forsaken is worth it only to those who can't wait for Descent III. Sure, the initial plunge is a heady experience - you start the game, get your bearings "up is down" no, down is up, no, wait "the room is spinning" then you wake up three days later with a Tickle Me Elmo in a dumpster behind a 7-11 in Reno. Once you're back to solid food, however, you realize you're dealing with another mediocre shoot-em-up hiding behind some lovely, er, graphics. Lame marketing tactics aside (there are only eight revealing pictures of the magazine-ad model in the included nine-month calendar - what a ripoff), Forsaken is a formidable display of technology that will bore everyone but the most dedicated action fans once its "wow" factor has dissipated.

If you own a Playstation and envy all those PC people who can play their tunnel crawling space games, this is exactly what your looking for. But overall, the conversion from PC to Playstation has failed very badly. In any case, it doesn't come with the calendar filled with barely legal pictures of the Forsaken chick, so why bother?
