Description official description

No Greater Glory puts you in the shoes of Abraham Lincoln or Jefferson Davis during the American Civil War. You make the great strategic, political, and economic decisions that will determine the fate of the American people for centuries to come. You will lead the government, mobilize the armies, pick the generals, and guide their movements. The epic struggle will ebb and flow - from Northern Virginia to Southern Louisiana, from St. Louis to Jacksonville, Florida. In the end, victory will come because of your strategic skills, your economic management, and your political acumen. No Greater Glory is an all-embracing simulation of national leadership during one of America's greatest crisis.

One of the hardest games to beat

The Good
This was the first good Civil War game on the PC. Glory had a tough test in store for the strong man (or woman) who took it on. You had to master politics, Logistics, military tatics, and other stengths to win. You would fail if you did not have just the right mix of everything. Another cool part of this game was that you could play either side of the war.

The Bad
Well first of all most games like this one have difficulity settings from Pushover to Impossible. When I first start to play sim games I always choose the easiest option first so that I can get a handle on the game. In Glory the easiest setting feels like an impossible setting on Civ I. I thought that I had found a bug in the game. I tested this by playing a game in the hardest setting. The union was conqured by the south in TWO TURNS! So I guess that the designers had in mind a tough game.

The Bottom Line
If you read the above decriptions you would think that I didnt like the game. In truth I loved it. Even though it was the hardest game I have played it had so much great game play. Even though to this day I have only beat this game ONCE I still love it. When I need a challenge and the best Civil War sim on the market I play this one.
